Vacancy Summary

Reporting to the New Product Introduction manager, the Technical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all product build specifications meet the customer requirements and are optimised to meet the required manufacturing standards whilst meeting the objectives of the business.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

-Implement and Control of customer product build specification.
-Interpret customer engineering changes and Generate internal engineering change notes to effectively control inception.
-Interpret and implement customer bills of materials into the company ERP system, structured effectively for production.
-Provide technical support for production, purchasing and planning departments.
-Keep abreast of advances in new component and manufacturing technologies.
-Approve Process Note changes.
-Assist customers and procurement department in resolving material supply issues by sourcing and authorising alternative components and communicating/facilitating customer acceptance.
-Generate PCB penalised Gerber data
-Assist the Manufacturing Services CBU to drive down manufacturing costs.
-To ensure non value added activity is reduced in all engineering processes by using Lean/Six Sigma tools and techniques.
-Provide technical support for customer complaints and warranty returns.
-Generate customer Design for manufacture reports from production/process engineering feedback.
-Assist the Account Managers with internal and external customer queries on new and existing designs.
-Support the Account Managers during customer visits and audits.
-Keep up to date with Manufacturing legislation like WEE, RoHS, Reach, Montreal protocol etc
-Carry out other related tasks as specified by the NPI Manager.

Person Specification:
-Relevant experience as a Production/Electronic Component Engineer (or similar) in an electronic manufacturing environment (PCB and electro-mechanical assembly).
-Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent in an appropriate subject.
-Must have electronic component engineering experience.
-Must have a detailed understanding of ERP/MRP Systems
-Ability to produce work instructions and process notes.
-Experience in managing cost reduction initiatives for existing products.
-Must have experience of world-class initiatives such as Kanban, cellular, JIT, Kaizen and Lean.
-Methodical and systematic.
-Goal/task oriented and can meet deadlines.
-Good communication skills at all levels.
-Able to train others.
-Uses own initiative and can work unsupervised.
-Team worker.
-Must accept responsibility for their actions.
